A product name is a starting point. The concentration path and quality limits determine the questions worth asking.

Heat sensitivity and viscosity

Alfa Laval positions FilmVap for heat-sensitive liquids of low to medium viscosity. Short product contact time and small temperature differences are relevant to that application. This does not establish a universal viscosity cutoff or guarantee quality for every feed. Alfa Laval FilmVap

Map the whole concentration path

Measure or request viscosity at representative temperatures and solids levels, especially the target outlet condition. Supply the analytical method with the values. A feed that is easy to pump when dilute should not be assumed to behave the same way after water removal. Ask the designer to identify which property data remain uncertain.

Turn quality into a testable requirement

For food or ingredient duties, the brief can record the quality attributes that must be retained and the sampling method the buyer will use. For other process liquids, record the relevant stability and impurity limits. Specify the permitted thermal history with your process specialist; this guide does not assign safe processing temperatures.

Identify an alternative early

GEA describes forced circulation as an option for highly viscous or strongly fouling liquids and as a concentration or crystallization stage.
