Vapour–liquid separator for falling-film evaporation
Keep product droplets out of the vapour path.
03 / SEPARATION
Liquid entrainment is a product loss and can contaminate recovered condensate or compressor service. The separator must accommodate the vapour load and liquid behaviour of the selected operating range, including changes in density and foaming tendency.

| Review item | Required basis |
|---|---|
| Vapour load | Use vapour volume at actual pressure, not only water mass evaporated. |
| Carry-over | Agree a condensate quality or product-loss acceptance method. |
| Foam behaviour | Review foaming samples and level-control response. |
Operation & maintenance
Provide accessible inspection and cleaning of internal surfaces. Investigate changes in condensate quality with level and throughput records instead of assuming clear-looking condensate is clean.
Selection limit
Separator diameter is not an independent throughput guarantee. Pressure, flow path and droplet behaviour determine the required separation duty.
