Thermal vapour recompressor for falling-film evaporation
Use motive steam to recover part of the process vapour heat.
HEAT RECOVERY / TVR
A TVR unit belongs within the heat balance of the evaporator. It can be evaluated with an appropriate effect arrangement; it is not a substitute for specifying the number of effects. Utility availability and operating stability govern the useful combination.

| Input | Output | Installation interfaces |
|---|---|---|
| Specified motive steam and a selected process vapour stream | Recompressed vapour for an agreed heating duty | Steam quality and pressure control, suction vapour and heating-side header |
Specify the engineering conditions
| Review item | Required basis |
|---|---|
| Motive steam | Provide pressure at the machine under load, not boiler nameplate pressure. |
| Operating map | Request performance across expected load and pressure ranges. |
| System balance | Identify vapour extraction location and remaining condenser load. |
Operation & maintenance
Track motive steam conditions and suction pressure during load changes. Include safe start-up and isolation provisions in the supplier scope and agree inspection of wear-prone internal parts.
Selection limit
Do not apply a fixed steam saving to every duty. The entrainment relationship depends on pressure levels and the complete system.
